Good Afternoon Grissom Choir,
All 4 curricular Grissom Choirs participated in the annual State Choral Performance Assessment last Monday & Tuesday. As usual, our department was met with high praise and continued its tradition of scoring Superior & Excellent ratings. All 4 choirs received Superior Ratings in the Sight-Reading Room. Men's Choir received Excellent Ratings on their 2 adjudicated pieces, Concert Choir received Overall Superior Ratings on their 2 adjudicated pieces, and for the 2nd year in a row, both the Chamber Choir & Women's Choir received Straight Superior Ratings on their 2 adjudicated pieces. We are truly blessed to have such talented and dedicated students across the board in Grissom Choir. BRAVA, BRAVA! This Week in Choir… Women’s Choir: Music Theory Test Review The Storm is Passing Over Finish memorization and musicality of all songs Men’s Choir: Review The Storm is Passing Over Finish memorization and musicality of all songs Concert Choir: Review The Storm is Passing Over & I Am The River Review The Road Home in it’s entirety Chamber Choir: Monday: Legislative Performance Prep Tuesday: Legislative Performance Thursday: Learn The Road Home in it’s entirety Run The Alma Mater, The Lord Bless You & Keep You, & National Anthem Vocal Lab: Weekly Rehearsal Assessments SRF Assignment Chamber Choir Legislative Performance Chamber Choir students, please be reminded that our rescheduled Montgomery Legislative Performance will be THIS Tuesday, April 25th! Call is 7:00am in comfortable clothes, bringing Grissom Choir Shirt, jeans, & Full Uniform. There was an updated packet sent out this past week with updated times, as well as information concerning our Montevallo stop on the way back into town! Parents/Guardians, we need an audience! If you are willing and able to travel down with us on the Charter Bus, please do so! Spring Concert Performance Our Spring Concert is in one week! This year, the concert will be on the evening of Tuesday, May 2nd at 7:00pm. Student call time is at 5:30pm in full Concert Uniform (tuxes & dresses). Admission to the concert is $5 for the general public, and doors open at 6:45 for seating. Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our public concerts. Spring Concert Dress Rehearsal There will be a required final rehearsal on Monday, May 1st for all students directly after school. It is imperative that all students are present at this rehearsal in order to figure out how we will be getting on & off the stage, and to have a final run-through with our accompanist. Students that are not present at this rehearsal will not be allowed to perform at the Spring Concert. Men’s & Women’s Choir students will be dismissed by 5:00pm, Concert Choir students by 6:00pm, & Chamber Choir by 7:00pm. Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our final rehearsals. End-Of-Year Awards Ceremony, Please join us after the Spring Concert for our Awards Ceremony, where we will recognize all Grissom Choir achievements from throughout the year, as well as individual awards such as All-City, All-State, Solo & Ensemble, & Senior Scholarships End-Of-Year Applications As detailed in previous Weekly Updates, we have various applications for upcoming awards & assessments.
