Good Afternoon Grissom Choir,

We had an EXCELLENT first full week of school in Grissom Choir! The energy, enthusiasm, and talent already on display in our classes have me incredibly excited for the year ahead.

Thank you to each student, parent, and guardian who attended our Parent Meeting this past Monday night. We had an excellent turnout, and I am incredibly grateful for the strong support our students have as they continue their choral music education. It was a wonderful way to begin the school year, and I am excited for all that lies ahead for Grissom Choir!

Grissom Choir Parent Meeting
For those who were unable to attend our Parent Meeting, please visit  www.grissomchoir.com/parentmeeting to review the slideshow that was presented during the meeting. It is imperative that all students and families review this information carefully to ensure that you are aware of all upcoming events, expectations, and required fees associated with participation in Grissom Choir.

Sheet Sale Fundraiser
We kicked off our Sheet Sale Fundraiser this past week! This fundraiser has consistently been a great success for students who have participated in the past, and I encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity to raise money toward their Basic Support Fee and other Grissom Choir-related expenses, including All-City, All-State, Pizza & Pop, and Solo & Ensemble.  Additional information about the fundraiser can be found at www.grissomchoir.com/fundraisers, and was made available to all students this past week. For those who choose to participate, all order forms & payments should be returned to the Grissom Choir Money Box no later than Wednesday, August 26th.

All-City Music
All-City music should be available this coming week! For those auditioning, please ensure that you have either paid your Basic Support Fee, established a payment plan with our Treasurer, or begun participating in our fundraiser in order to receive your music. Once you receive your music, be sure to begin preparing as soon as possible so that you are ready for the upcoming audition!

All-State Registration
Students, the deadline to register for this year’s All-State Choral Festival Auditions is THIS COMING Tuesday, August 18! All information regarding the audition, including registration costs, requirements, and other important details, can be found at www.grissomchoir.com/allstate. I highly encourage our passionate and dedicated students to audition! Grissom Choir consistently has outstanding students selected for the All-State Choral Festival, and it is a wonderful opportunity to challenge yourself musically and perform alongside some of the highest-quality choral students from across the state.

Fall Concert Solo Auditions
Auditions for our Fall Concert solos will be held during Advisory, Tuesday–Friday of this coming week. Students interested in auditioning should choose the day that works best for their schedule. The required measure numbers for each solo have been posted on Canvas under the Announcements tab. Be sure to review and prepare the appropriate section before your audition!

Fall Concert Performance
Our Fall Concert is quickly approaching! The concert will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. Students should report at 5:30 p.m. dressed in their “Sunday Best” attire. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, with doors opening at 6:45 p.m. for seating. Please remember that participation in our public concerts is required for all Grissom Choir members enrolled in this semester. We are looking forward to sharing the hard work of our students these first three weeks of school!

Fall Concert Final Rehearsal
There will be a required final rehearsal on Monday, August 31st directly after school for all Grissom Choir students enrolled in this semester. It is imperative that every student be present, as we will use this rehearsal to establish entrances and exits on and off the stage, review concert logistics, and complete a final run-through with our accompanist. Students who are not present at this rehearsal will not be permitted to perform in the Fall Concert. Please plan accordingly and make every effort to avoid scheduling conflicts. Students will be dismissed  by 5:30pm that evening. Please remember that participation in our final rehearsals is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members.

Trash Pandas Grissom High School Night
This coming Tuesday, August 18, the Rocket City Trash Pandas will be hosting Grissom High School Night at that evening’s baseball game! Our Chamber Choir will have the honor of performing the National Anthem at the start of the game, and we highly encourage all Grissom Choir students, families, and supporters to come out and cheer them on! Come out for a great evening of baseball and help us support Grissom Choir, Grissom High School, and our local MiLB team! Grissom Choir Glow Run
The Grissom Choir is excited to announce that this year’s Grissom Choir Glow Run will be held on the evening of Saturday, November 15! Proceeds from the event will benefit Grissom Choir as a whole, helping support the many expenses our department incurs throughout the school year. We are also excited to be partnering with Fleet Feet to assist with professional race-day timing and logistics, helping us provide an organized and enjoyable race experience for all participants. GCPA Board Members, alongside our Grissom Choir Leadership Team, will be organizing and staffing the event, but we will need EVERY student and parent/guardian’s help in spreading the word throughout our community and encouraging runners to register!
