This Week in Choir: Week 6

Good Morning Grissom Choir,

It’s Fall Concert Week!  I am so excited to share with friends and family all that our Grissom Choir students have been preparing these past 5 weeks.

We had an excellent turn-out in participants in this year’s Sheet Sale! As a whole, Grissom Choir sold over $11,500 worth of sheets, which equals over $5,500 raised that will go directly toward student’s My Music Office fees, as well as our upcoming NYC Performance Tour.  Congratulations to Carly Mecomber & Skyler Law for being our top 2 sellers, each selling over $675 worth of sheets!!

Fall Concert Performance
Our Fall Concert is THIS COMING WEEK! The concert will be held on the evening of Tuesday, September 10th at 7:00pm. Student call time is at 5:30pm in “Sunday Best” attire.  Admission to this concert is $5 for all adults, and free for students, with doors opening at 6:45 for seating.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our public concerts.

Fall Concert Final Rehearsal
There will be a required final rehearsal THIS COMING Monday, September 9th for all students directly after school. It is imperative that all students are present at this rehearsal in order to figure out how we will be getting on & off the stage, and to have a final run-through with our accompanist. Students that are not present at this rehearsal will not be allowed to perform at the Fall Concert.  All students will be dismissed by 5pm.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our final rehearsals.

All-City Choral Festival Auditions
Auditions for this year’s All-City Choral Festival are NEXT week!  SSAA Auditions will be held on Monday, September 16th, & SATB Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, both of which will be held at Lee HS directly after school.  Students, please ensure that you have a ride to and from the auditions, and are fully prepared with the following:

    1. All Music in its Folder
    2. Measures Numbered
    3. Parts learned via Practice Tracks (grissomchoir.com)

It is my expectation that all students that registered follow through with their commitment by practicing and auditioning.  We have 75 students auditioning this year, and I want every single one of these Grissom Choir members to be accepted.  Should there be any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Tidal Wave Auto Spa Fundraiser
This week, Grissom Choir will kick-off its 2nd fundraiser of the school year, a Tidal Wave Auto Spa Car-Wash Fundraiser.  Each ticket can be sold for $10 (valued for the $20 Car Wash), of which $5 will go towards the student’s individual My Music Office Account.  This is an easy and fast way to raise money for Grissom Choir related fees!  Pre-Sell Ticket Order Forms will be available starting Thursday, September 12th in the Grissom Choir room, and students will have 2 weeks to sell.  Order forms will need to be turned in to the Grissom Choir Money Box in order to receive tickets once the fundraiser ends.  Please visit www.grissomchoir.com/fundraisers for more information later this week!

Grissom Choir Digital Permission-to-Travel Form
Grissom Choir will be traveling multiple times through the school year in its continuous efforts to provide the highest-calibre of choral music education to it's students.  In order to mitigate paperwork, we are transitioning to a single, full-year, digital Permission-To-Travel Form, which will serve as permission-to-travel for all students and the trips that they will be traveling on.  Remember, EVERY student in Grissom Choir will be traveling this year on two required trips:  The UAB Honor Choir, and State Choral Performance assessment.  Please visit www.grissomchoir.com/permissiontotravel to access the List of Dates, as well as to sign the Digital Permission-To-Travel Form.
