Good Evening Grissom Choir,


Mrs. Ratcliff & I are excited to welcome our baby boy home from the NICU tomorrow.  I will now be taking my leave starting tomorrow, April 18th through the end of the school year.  While I am on leave, students have Singing Submission Assignments posted on Schoology in order to continue to prepare for our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 6th.

Continue learning & reviewing music for Spring Concert




University of Montevallo’s Choral Festival Day
For those students in Men’s & Women’s Choir, the UM Choral Festival Day is tomorrow!  An email was sent out last Tuesday detailing the itinerary for this trip, as well as the new Person-In-Charge; Ms. Maggie Jobe.  All Men’s & Women’s Choir students should report to the Auditorium lobby steps tomorrow morning by 6:00am for this great trip!


Chamber Choir Auditions
Chamber Choir auditions will take place virtually this week and next week.  There are two parts to the audition: Part 1 & Part 2, both of which all details and instructions are posted on Schoology on the Materials tab in the Chamber Choir Auditions folder.  The 40 students auditioning for Chamber Choir will have until Sunday, May 1st to submit both of these parts of the Chamber Choir audition.


BELK Charity Sale Fundraiser
This week, we will begin our 3rd fundraiser for our European Concert Tour, as well as our last main fundraiser of the year to help raise funds for student’s Basic Support Fees & other remaining charges.  Students may check out BELK Charity Sale Tickets to sell from myself, or appointed student leaders in each class. Each ticket sells for $5, and the individual buying the ticket gains entry to the BELK Sale (which runs from April 29th-May 1st), as well as getting $5 off of their first purchase!  Students that wish to sign-up and sell tickets at the door of the sale may contact the event organizer, Jill Driscoll, at (256) 551-4200, ext. 313 or [email protected].  Students must turn in monies raised and/or any remaining tickets to the Grissom Choir Money Box (via envelope) by Friday, April 29th. All $5 from each ticket sale will go towards the student’s individual Charms Financial Account to help pay for any remaining fees and our European Concert Tour.


Spring Concert Performance
Our joint Spring Concert with Mountain Gap Middle School is in three week!  The concert will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 5th at 6:30pm (PLEASE NOTE THE UPDATED TIME). Student call time is at 5:30pm in their Concert Uniform attire.  Admission to this concert is $5 to the general public, & doors open at 6:15 for seating.  After the concert, all students, friends, and family members are invited to join us for our End-Of-Year Awards Ceremony & Celebration.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our public concerts.


Spring Concert Final Rehearsal
There will be a required final rehearsal on Tuesday, May 3rd for all students directly after school. It is imperative that all students are present at this rehearsal in order to figure out how we will be getting on & off the stage, and to have a final run-through with our accompanist. Students that are not present at this rehearsal will not be allowed to perform at the Spring Concert.  All choirs will be done by 5:30pm that evening.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our final rehearsals.
