The All-City Choral Festival (HCDA) is an auditioned opportunity open to all students in the choral program. The cost of audition registration is included in each student’s Basic Support Fee. Students who are selected will be responsible for paying a $30 Festival Fee.
Students selected for the festival will participate in one mandatory rehearsal during the school day, culminating in an evening performance alongside outstanding singers from across Huntsville City Schools at a host church. Auditions are conducted by HCDA choral directors within Huntsville City Schools.
Students are expected to learn their music outside of their regularly scheduled choir class using the provided music and practice tracks. Uniforms are required for the performance.
The Outstanding Choral Student for All-City competition recognizes exceptional senior choir students. Nominees are selected by the choir director and must have participated in the All-City Choral Festival during the previous year. Selected students prepare two contrasting vocal selections and a résumé before auditioning for a panel of adjudicators on their assigned audition day.
