All-State Choral Festival (AVA) – This festival is held in April and features the best choral students from across the state. They must audition before a panel of judges at a selected school. Each student auditioning purchases their own music and practice tape. There are three different choirs available – SSA, TTBB, and SATB. Students who are chosen spend a weekend in April rehearsing with a renowned clinician and perform in a concert at the host facility. Students pay for their lodging and food. Uniforms are required.
Outstanding Choral Student (AVA) – This student, selected by the director, may be a junior or senior and have attended All-State the previous year. They must audition at the district level with two contrasting songs. They also submit a resume and picture. If selected as the district winner, they will then audition with the other district winners from across the state for the honor of being the best choral student in the state.
