Grissom Choir

is a well established, diverse choral music program at Virgil I. Grissom High School in the southwest area of Huntsville, Alabama.
ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE.

Upwards of 120 Grissom High School students are current members of one or more of our 4 curricular choirs: The Women's Choir, The Men's Choir, The Concert Choir, and premier ensemble: The Chamber Choir.

OUR MISSION.

As part of the Huntsville City School's School System, our mission is to provide an all-inclusive choral music education, and provide it's stakeholders with choral music opportunities of the highest calibre.

WHAT WE DO.

Grissom Choir is consistently known for its dedication to traditional choral singing, as well as its inclusion of various vocal jazz & pop repertoire. Every year, choirs in the department score overall Superior & Excellent ratings at State Choral Performance Assessment, as well as individual Superior & Excellent ratings at the Alabama Solo & Ensemble Festival. Many of our students are involved in Huntsville's All-City Choral Festival, as well as Alabama's All-State Choral Festival. On many occasions, the Concert Choir has been invited to perform alongside the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra's performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, and the Chamber Choir is consistently invited to various Honor Choirs across the state as a guest performing ensemble. Most recently, the Grissom Choir has performed on Carnegie Hall State in New York City under the direction of composer Dr. John Leavitt, & will make it's international debut in Costa Rica in the summer of 2023. I implore you to take a look around our website and discover what is happening in Grissom Choir.

Sincerely,

Tucker Ratcliff
