WHAT WE DO.
Through consistent dedication to classical choral traditions alongside the inclusion of contemporary repertoire, each ensemble in the department earns Superior and Excellent ratings—both straight and overall—at Choral Performance Assessments and the Alabama Solo & Ensemble Festival year after year. Many Grissom Choir students are selected annually to participate in Huntsville’s All-City Choral Festival and Alabama’s All-State Choral Festival, with numerous students recognized as City, District, and State Outstanding Choral Students. Over the past nine years, Grissom Choir has emerged as one of Alabama’s premier high school choral programs, receiving invitations to perform across the state, nation, and internationally. Notable performances include collaborations with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra (2019), a performance on the Carnegie Hall stage in New York City (2018), appearances at the AMEA In-Service Conference (2022), the Alabama State Capitol (2023, 2024), the Alabama ACDA Summer Conference (2025), and an international concert tour to Costa Rica, featuring performances in San José and Arenal in collaboration with Costa Rica ACDA (2023). These experiences stand as a testament to the dedication, passion, and artistry of Grissom Choir students.
