This Week in Choir: Week 16
Good Evening Grissom Choir, It’s concert week! I am so excited to share with friends and family all that we have worked on this semester, through Virtual & Cohort Learning. Please read all the information below so that we can have a safe Winter Concert on Thursday: This Week in Choir… Women’s Choir: Finish memorization of all songs Begin running through all songs Review Carol of the Bells Men’s Choir: Finish memorization of all songs Begin running through all songs Review Carol of the Bells Concert Choir: Finish memorization of all songs Begin running through all songs Review Carol of the Bells Chamber Choir: Finish memorization of all songs Begin running through all songs Morning Rehearsals Monday and Thursday at 8:00am in the Choir Room Should anyone need to reach me by email, please do not email my Huntsville City School’s email. You may email me at [email protected]. This is a separate Gmail account that has no affiliation with the HCS servers. You may also reach out to me via Remind. If any student or parent has not joined the Grissom Choir Remind, please visit www.grissomchoir.com/about and follow the instructions under whichever choir you/your child is enrolled in. Winter Concert We will be reverting back to an in-person Winter Concert with a live audience this Thursday, December 10th, as originally scheduled in our Handbook that was sent out on the first day of school. In order to follow social distancing guidelines, student’s will unfortunately not be sitting in the audience to listen to the other choirs. Instead, students will be backstage, as well as in the choir room while they are not performing on-stage. This will allow us to accommodate an entire live, socially-distanced audience. Student call time is 5:30pm in the GHS Auditorium wearing appropriate Festive Christmas attire and their Grissom Choir Mask. Doors open at 6:45pm to the public, with the concert beginning at 7:00pm. In order to spread a little Christmas Cheer during this crazy time, tickets for this year’s Winter Concert will be COMPLETELY FREE. In order to follow IMPROVED social distancing guidelines, please visit www.grissomchoir.com/winterconcert to read all information & reserve your seat(s). Winter Concert Final Rehearsal Students, we will have our Final Rehearsal with our accompanist directly after school on Wednesday, December 9th. All students are called at 3:45 in the Auditorium. Women’s and Men’s Choir rehearsals will end at 5:00pm, Concert Choir rehearsal will end by 6:30pm, and Chamber Choir rehearsal will end by 8:00pm. These rehearsals are mandatory for all students in order to receive a passing grade in the class. If you have not made necessary arrangements to attend this rehearsal, please do so ASAP. Song Cuts Students, due to losing rehearsing time, we are having to cut one song from each choir set. Please see the list below of which song is being cut from your choir’s performance on Thursday so that you can rehearse the appropriate music on your own: Women’s Choir: cutting Christmas Canticles Men’s Choir: cutting Gloria Concert Choir: cutting The Snow Chamber Choir: cutting Ding, Dong Merrily on High HVA/Cohort Packets Most teachers have been instructed to give physical packets to students to complete for the remainder of the semester. Because our class is a performance based class, Grissom Choir will not have a packet. It is my expectation for students to attend their class at the appropriate time in order to continue to prepare for our Winter Concert next week, as well as attend our Winter Concert Final Rehearsal & Performance. Students may come to in-class rehearsals even when their Cohort is not on campus, if able. If HVA students are able to attend in-person class this week, it would be in their best interest for them to do so as well. For those that are not able to, you may visit www.grissomchoir.com/elearning to access PDF’s of our music and practice tracks so that you can rehearse on your own in preparation for our rehearsal on Wednesday and concert on Thursday. Please remember, this class is a performance based class, and our rehearsals/concerts are how students will receive their grades. Should their be any concerns from HVA families, please reach out to me at [email protected], NOT my HCS email.
