Good Afternoon Grissom Choir,


It’s Winter Concert week!  I am so excited to share with friends and family all that our students have been working on this 2nd 9-Weeks.  Please see all the information below so that this busy week goes off without a hitch!


Congratulations to Seth Smith & Sophia Zajac, who were both selected as the Alabama Vocal Association’s District V Outstanding Male & Female Choral Student across Huntsville City, Madison County, Madison City, & Decatur City Schools (amongst others)! They each compiled an extensive application, consisting of a video interview, video audition, 3 letters of recommendation, and a resume detailing 7th-12th grade choral experiences.  This is huge honor, especially to have both the Male & Female students be members of Grissom Choir & Huntsville City School’s.  They will now go on to be interviewed and considered for the overall Alabama Outstanding Choral Students for the state at our AVA All-State Choral Festival in March!

Winter Concert Performance
It’s here! Our Winter Concert is this coming week!  The concert will be held on the evening of THIS Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00pm. Student call time is at 5:00pm in their Concert Uniform attire, upon which new students will receive at our Final Rehearsal (if not already received & paid for).  We will be taking yearbook photos at this time, so it is important that everyone is on time!  Admission to this concert is $5 to the general public, & doors open at 6:45 for seating.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our public concerts.


Winter Concert Final Rehearsal
There will be a required final rehearsal THIS Monday, December 4th for all students directly after school. It is imperative that all students are present at this rehearsal in order to figure out how we will be getting on & off the stage, and to have a final run-through with our accompanist. Students that are not present at this rehearsal will not be allowed to perform at the Winter Concert.  Men’s & Women’s Choir students will be dismissed by 5:00pm, Concert Choir students by 6:00pm, & Chamber Choir by 7:00pm.  Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our final rehearsals.


Concert Uniforms
New students have begun receiving uniforms in class, & the rest will be given out at our Final Rehearsal.  Please remember that payment must be submitted or fundraised for in order for them to be taken home and worn at our concert.  Please reach out to our Treasurer, Amanda Francis, at [email protected], to ensure that this has been taken care of, or to begin a payment plan today!


Concert Uniform Requirements
Students, please remember that alongside your uniform, you are expect to also wear the following:
Dress Requirements: Black closed toed shoes, stud earrings (optional).
Tuxedo Requirements: Long black socks, black dress shoes.
All Students:  Nothing should be worn around the neck or around the wrists.  Hair should be styled out of the face.  Watches, necklaces, and hooped ear-rings are not allowed.


End-Of-Semester Party
All students, please remember to bring your food/drink/party item on your assigned day (exam week!) as we celebrate the end to a great semester!
