Chamber Choir Montgomery Trip
While we were unable to make this trip down to Montgomery for our Legislative Performance this past Thursday due to severe weather, I am excited at the prospect of being able travel down sometime later this semester.  I have already been in talks with Montgomery, and we are currently looking at a Tuesday in April that will allow us to travel down for this performance.

Pizza & Pop Ticket RSVP
All friends and family members of Grissom Choir students are invited to join us for Pizza & Pop, located in the Martha deFord Hays Auditorium THIS Friday, February 24th at 6:00pm!  1 Ticket @ $10.00 each (sold at the door, cash & card accepted) includes a "showcase" style performance evening featuring our multi-talented Grissom Choir students, along with 2 slices of Dominos Pizza, a drink, chips, & dessert.  All attendees are required to RSVP by THIS Wednesday, February 22nd in order to attend.  Please visit www.grissomchoir.com/pizzapop to reserve your dinner & entertainment today!

Pizza & Pop Final Tech Rehearsal
For all acts selected to participate in Pizza & Pop, we will have our Tech Rehearsal after school on Friday, directly before the event.  You will be responsible for staying after school for this run-through, so please ensure that you pack your performance attire and materials with you to school that morning.  The rehearsal will last from 4:00-5:45, with the doors to the event opening at this time.  For those acts that were selected, your $15 per solo and/or $20 per ensemble is due by this rehearsal.  All acts that have not turned in this fee will be asked to not perform.

Solo & Ensemble Accompanist Rehearsal & Festival Packet
Our official date and time for this event is scheduled for the afternoon of February 28th.  Permission-to-Travel forms were handed out in class, and are due by Monday, February 27th.  A festival packet was also handed, and will be emailed to all parents/guardians this week.  There will be a REQUIRED rehearsal with our accompanist on the afternoon of Sunday, February 26th in the Grissom Choir room from 2:00-4:00pm.  All participants are required to attend this rehearsal.

Concert & Chamber Choir Cantus Collaboration
This year, The Grissom Concert & Chamber Choirs will combine to perform alongside other high school choirs in a collaboration concert with Cantus, a world renowned men’s vocal ensemble.  This concert is sponsored by The Huntsville Chamber Music Guild, and we are honored to be asked to participate in this workshop.  There will be a rehearsal NEXT Saturday, March 4th from 10:30 to noon at Trinity United Methodist Church for all Concert & Chamber Choir members.  Pizza Lunch will be provided afterwards for all students.  The concert will be that evening at 5:00pm.  Friends and family of Grissom Choir will receive reduced price tickets for those that wish to attend.  Concert Choir will finish up working on this collaborative concert in class this week, and Chamber Choir will begin & finish rehearsing this week as well.

Grissom Choir Course Registration
All students should have (or will soon) received their Course Registration sheets this past week or in the coming weeks. It is my expectation that all current underclassmen choir students will continue to take choir. Should there be any student who does not plan on taking choir next year, please come and speak with me privately.  For students who are wishing to audition for The Chamber Choir, please register for the class using Mixed Chorus IV (Course Number: 05110G1004) on the course registration sheet.  All other students should register for The Concert Choir, which should be listed as Mixed Chorus III (Course Number: 05110G1003) on the course registration sheet. This is this same Course Names & Numbers as years prior. Based on both Concert & Chamber Choir auditions, I will relocate students back to Women’s/Mens Choir or to and from Concert & Chamber Choir.  Should there be any student that wishes to be in The Vocal Lab class (an entire class block that allows students to rehearse their All-City, All-State,Solo & Ensemble, and Pizza & Pop music!), please come and speak with me so that we can have the correct class listed on your course registration sheet!  All students received a Grissom Choir Recruitment Flyer this past week which describes these 3 courses in full.

Grissom Curriculum Showcase
This Thursday, Grissom High School will host its annual Curriculum Showcase for middle school students from 6-7:30pm in the Cafeteria.  Grissom Choir’s Leadership team will be running the booth for prospective students.  More information concerning this night will be given out individually to Leadership Team members so that we haven students at this event!
