This Week in Choir: Week 16
Good Afternoon Grissom Choir, I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving week with their friends and family, and is ready to finish this semester with energy and excitement! I wanted to once again say congratulations to the 12 Grissom Choir students that were selected to participate in this school year’s 2022 All-State Choral Festival, one of the greatest honors an individual choral student can achieve! This has been one of the highest audition to acceptance rates that our program has had in many years. We are very proud of each of these students, and excited for the journey that awaits them! These assignments allow me to see individual progress, as well as to assess who has been actively participating & learning in class. Please see Schoology for each classes due dates for their singing submissions. Any students that chooses not to submit these assignments will not be allowed to perform in our Winter Concert. Winter Concert Performance Our Winter Concert is next week! The concert will be held on the evening of Thursday, December 9th at 7:00pm. Student call time is at 5:30pm in their Concert Uniform attire. Admission to this concert is $5 to the general public, & doors open at 6:45 for seating. While there are no assigned seats at this concert, please use your own discretion and select your seats with social distancing guidelines in mind. Groups or family members may sit together, however, please be courteous of others and sit distant from groups & families that are also here to enjoy the concert. Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our public concerts. Winter Concert Final Rehearsal There will be a required final rehearsal next Wednesday, December 8th for all students directly after school. It is imperative that all students are present at this rehearsal in order to figure out how we will be getting on & off the stage, and to have a final run-through with our accompanist. Students that are not present at this rehearsal will not be allowed to perform at the Winter Concert. Men’s & Women’s Choir students will be dismissed by 5:30pm, Concert Choir students by 6:30pm, & Chamber Choir by 8:00pm. Please remember that it is a requirement for all Grissom Choir members to participate in our final rehearsals. Concert Uniforms At this point, all new students who have been present in class should have tried on their Grissom Choir uniforms to ensure that all items fit correctly, and to pin dresses & tuxes for hemming. There are a few students whose items did not fit correctly, and newly ordered items will be delivered to the school on Monday for these students. If any new student has not tried on their uniform, they must let me know immediately so that this can be done. Please remember that payment must be turned in for these uniforms in order for them to be taken home and worn. Please reach out to our Treasurer, Karen Heller, at [email protected], to ensure that this has been taken care of! Mid-Term Exams All student will be required to attend their assigned exam time the week of exams. We will take our 4th Music Theory Test of the year during this time, and also celebrate the end to a fantastic semester. More details about this will be given to students in class.
