This Week in Choir: Week 28




Good Afternoon Grissom Choir,


I am so very proud of each of our students in their performance this past Friday at State Choral Performance Assessment.  Each choir received straight Superior Ratings on their two adjudicated prepared pieces.  In sight-reading, both the Chamber & Women’s Choir also received a Superior Rating, resulting in each of these choirs being awarded a “Superior with Distinction”.  Both the Concert & Men’s Choir received an Excellent Rating in sight-reading, resulting in each of these choirs being awarded an Overall Superior Rating.  This is the first time in many years that any of our choir’s have received a “Superior with Distinction”, as well as straight Superior Ratings on every adjudicated prepared piece.  Congratulations to each of our students!!

All-State Choral Festival
All-State is THIS week!  I, along with the 12 Grissom Choir students that were selected, will be in Birmingham Thursday, Friday, & Saturday for this great festival.  There will be digital assignments for all students on Thursday/Friday for those in class to submit.  For those selected to participate, we will have a mandatory All-State meeting this Tuesday, March 8th at 6:00pm in the Choir Room.  This will be required for all students participating, as well as parents, even if they are not traveling to Birmingham.  All fees and forms are due by this evening as well.  Please see the the Acceptance Letter that was emailed & handed out 2 weeks ago for all information concerning All-State.
