This Week in Choir: Week 6
Good Afternoon Grissom Choir, I am beyond excited to see our students back making music once again. Please read below for very important information concerning the return to school, as well as the steps that Grissom Choir will take to ensure the security & safety of our students. For those that have paid their Basic Support Fee or set up a payment plan via our treasure, you will receive your Grissom Choir mask at the beginning of class. The choir room has been set up to accommodate all classes using the social distancing guidelines provided by the district, except for Concert Choir. Those in Concert Choir will report to the auditorium for class due to class size in order to follow these guidelines. Students online will tune into class via a Zoom link on Schoology (information listed below). We have recently had the head of HCS Heating and Cooling visit both the Band Room and the Choir Room to assess ventilation and air purification. With Grissom being in it’s 3rd year, our building is equipped with the latest technology that monitors the amount of CO2 in the air. When students are in the classroom, the system will detect the increase in CO2 produced, and will engage the cooling cycling system at a more frequent rate. This results in cleaner air being brought into the classroom that is safer for our students to breath and sing in than any other building in Huntsville City Schools. Return To School As we return back to school physically beginning tomorrow, please make sure that all have read the guidelines and rules that administration has sent out via email to better understand the Cohort 1 & 2 system that GHS has implemented. Because choir is an extra-curricular activity, we have been given the opportunity to allow Huntsville Virtual Academy (HVA) students to come to campus and participate in their choir class with the traditional students AFTER FALL BREAK. I have outlined the guidelines for each class concerning HVA involvement below. Should any issues arise based on the above guidelines, do not hesitate to reach out. Chamber Choir - HVA students will come to campus alongside traditional students for class rehearsals. Concert Choir - HVA students are advised to come to campus alongside traditional students for class rehearsals. Men’s Choir - HVA students are encouraged to come to campus alongside traditional students for class rehearsals. Women’s Choir - HVA students are encouraged to come to campus alongside traditional students for class rehearsals. Vocal Lab - HVA students are encouraged to come to campus alongside traditional students for class practice. For those that will be at home tuning in LIVE (Cohort 1 vs 2, and/or HVA), you will be expected to attend rehearsals virtually during our assigned class blocks, and participate with your digital sheet music alongside the choir in the building. If you are unable to attend LIVE for some reason, recordings can be found on Schoology and www.grissomchoir.com/elearning. At the end of each class rehearsal, you will be required to fill out an online form, detailing the information covered in class in order for you to be held accountable for learning the material. Sheet Sale Fundraiser Our annual Sheet Sale fundraiser began last week! All information concerning the sale can be found at www.grissomchoir.com/fundraising. Order forms can be printed off on our website, as well as online instructions for those that live far away. Physical forms will be available at school this week. This is a GREAT fundraiser that allows students to raise money for the Basic Support Fee, Trips, or other Grissom Choir related events. These sheets are of the highest quality, and you will not have any trouble selling these to friends and family. Fall Concert For those students that have elected to participate in the Fall Concert, please be considerate of our rules that were implemented last week:
